VTG provides specialized solutions for the creation, manipulation and management of television programming and digital media assets to professional teleproduction services companies and corporate entities. These solutions are highly technical hardware and software-based systems requiring consultative design, configuration, installation, training and after-sales support.
VTG’s sales offering can be broken down into product classes, as follows:
- Shared Storage – Sophisticated disc-based SAN storage and networking systems technologies which have been integrated to incorporate file sharing and automated file management as design attributes.
- Archiving – Digital encoding and alternate forms of storage technologies (e.g., optical disk and tape storage), which have been integrated into automated library systems used to migrate files from expensive, primary hard-disc storage to economical long-term formats.
- Media Asset Management – Database technologies which have been applied for the acquisition, indexing, logging, search and retrieval of digital file-based audio and video elements.
- Media Encoding & Signal Processing – Digital encoding & transcoding, live streaming, format conversion, signal processing and server technologies which are being used to replace traditional signal routing and distribution concepts in facility design.
- File-based Workflow Management – Project-centric automation and management tools for centralized version control and archive integration.
Clients often approach us to help them find product and workflow solutions for applications ranging from simple encoding and shared storage architectures to complex file conversion workflows, archiving, media asset management, remote worker support, accelerated WAN file transfers, etc.
Common to all requests is a need to analyze underlying job requirements and educate our customer on the appropriate tools to match the application, workflow and budget requirements. By focusing attention on each application topic individually, we hope to highlight specific elements for you to consider when planning for a solution unique to your business.
Shared Storage & Archiving
High-speed, centralized, shared storage and archive system technologies for digitized creative content have become the new connective framework for modern post-production and broadcast facility design, with the newest industry developments bringing benefits which redefine traditional content production practices such as collaborative content creation, centralized ingest and archiving, shared content repositories offering greater storage utilization and efficiency, multi-site synchronization, disaster recovery and business continuation strategies.
Most facility refit and upgrade projects start with a review of your storage infrastructure need, so VTG is a certified storage integration partner for multiple storage vendors and will analyze your production requirements no matter how large or small, and design a shared storage implementation that best suits your immediate need while allowing for scale-out requirements common among growing businesses, continuing to partner with your organization for deployment/installation, training & long-term support.
Asset Management
Many of our clients have already found that moving to shared storage addresses the hardware infrastructure upon which to plan their facilities, and now are learning that having a complimentary software toolset with which to manage digital content allows them to improve production workflows, control costs, achieve higher monetization of owned program material through more efficient utilization and re-use and grow their business models.
As your needs will likely involve custom integration with external applications and providers for high-volume transcoding and distribution workflows, VTG is a certified design/deployment partner for CatDV by Squarebox Systems UK and can customize a package to your requirements to include workflow consulting, database design, deployment/installation, training & support.
Encoding & Transcoding
The impact of digitally created audio and video file creation, data-centric technologies and the internet on production and post-production processes in the last few years has created more challenges & opportunities for TV and film professionals.
Clients now routinely ask for deliverables in digital file formats - some of which require additional production processes and preparation. By analyzing your encoding needs fully, we can ensure that your investment in encoding and transcoding technologies will continue to provide positive impact for your business.
